DevOps Technology Transformation for Healthcare Startup

Overview

As healthcare solutions require fast and effective deliveries, our client—a young and promising healthcare start-up—experienced issues related not only to the lack of time and efficiency in software deployment problems with infrastructure management or poor system performance.

One of the goals was to become more efficient in the development processes of the various teams and to increase speed and efficiency in delivering applications and services in the healthcare industry.

As part of the integration with DevOps, we assisted them in getting shorter delivery cycles, low downtime, and compliance with security and healthcare requirements. This paper discusses the phases, issues, and incredible results of the cooperation with this healthcare startup.

Our Process

To address the challenges of the client, a set of measures reflecting several key principles of the DevOps approach—CI/CD, automation, and cloud—was proposed and realized at the client’s company. To achieve our goals, our team made it our priority to make sure that the solution being implemented conforms to the acceptable industry standards and, at the same time, helps to close the gap between the development and operation of the client’s healthcare services.

1
Project Planning

The project was launched with proper questionnaires to identify the client’s concerns and set measurable goals before beginning with DevOps.

2
Infrastructure Setup

Cross-platform, our team designed a highly available and scalable infrastructure using Kubernetes’ orchestration and AWS as the home base for the most used healthcare applications.

3
CI/CD Pipeline Development

We set up an automated CI/CD system for the development team to push new changes with less impact, hence enhancing the speed of delivering the software as well as cutting down on manual interferences.

4
Testing & Security

Since testing was done at the end of the DevOps pipeline, we saw that it delivered high quality when deployed. Also, we globalized strong security mechanisms to support HIPAA and other compliance standards in the handling of healthcare information.

Our Role

Project Challenges

1.Infrastructure Management

The client’s platform had to be in the cloud, as the company’s goal was to be able to scale up very quickly. We deployed automation for resource allocation and instantiation, which limited human interference.

2.Security and Compliance

Thus, to answer HIPAA requirements, we included security measures and employed methods for automated testing. This made sure that patients’ data that may be very sensitive were protected all the time.

Results

The combined effort with the healthcare startup worked out well in reforming their management and scoring impressive success.

Faster Time-to-Market

Thus, using the DevOps practices at the client’s organization, it was possible to shorten the time to deliver new features and updates, which made it possible to increase competitiveness.

Enhanced Operational Efficiency

The enhancement of distinguishing automated workflows as well as continuous integration endpoints and the introduction of supplies for real-time monitoring pushed the client’s working productivity, shrank costs, and system downtime.

Scalable Infrastructure

Having the working platform based in the cloud was beneficial in that it could easily grow with the traffic to maintain the frequency of coming back to the platform.
